April 12, 2005 - Millvale, PA We had a very early bus call. We left about 8:30am. We had a 190 mile drive from Columbus, Ohio to Millvale, Pennsylvania. Millvale is a suburb of Pittsburgh. I don’t know why but Pittsburgh has always been a city that I wanted to visit. The funny thing is,…when we got to Milllvale, it looked exactly like I had imagined it would. It looked kinda’ like a ‘hilly’ old mining town to me. The venue reminded me of a church. I think it used to be a church. We parked out front but we had to roll the gear up a very large hill to get it inside. When we got inside we saw Kin working on some new stage props for us. She was building stairs and banners for us. Actually, she had already built them. She was just doing the finally assembly. It took her a very long time to finally get everything together so we (the crew) assumed it was gonna’ take that much time to put them together everyday (we were wrong about that). All of the props look great and they add another ‘dimension’ to what we’re doing. My friend, Ronnie Biggs, came by to check out the set-up and sound check. We had been communicating for a long time by email but this was the 1st time we met. Saundra and I went for a walk to find a drug store and discuss some things. She had some things on her mind and she wondered how she was fitting in with the band. When we got back the line was forming for the show. I was supposed to meet Kevin Barefoot from the Poogie Bell Band. Poogie plays drums for Marcus Miller. And Kevin plays bass in Poogie’s own band. Kevin wanted to interview me and Victor for an online magazine. I never got a chance to meet him all night but he did text message me during the show. The message came during one of my breaks in the show so I was able to text message him back. After the show we met with some folks from the Soul Patrol. Soul Patrol is an online group that has a forum that reviews concert and CDs. Especially Funk music. They’ve been very supportive of the Victor Wooten Band. We meet with ‘chapters’ of Soul Patrol in Various cities. Actually, I didn’t get to meet with them since I was breaking down gear. But I did get to me Eric’s mom. Eric is one of Victor’s web guys. I call him ‘E Money’. I called his mom ‘E Mother’. I also got to meet Phil the Beat and his band mate Jere B. I let Phil play my basses while I was breaking down the gear. They really dug the show. After we loaded up the bus we headed straight for New York. We had a long drive ahead of us. We chatted on the bus for awhile but nobody really had any stamina to stay up. I jumped in my bunk and got on the phone with my wife. I was gonna’ see her the next day in New York and I was excited about that. The drive is 380 miles!!!! Peace&blessings,
