January 27, 2003 - Flagstaff, Arizona
We got up early to take the rental car back because bus call was 9:30AM and we had to have it all taken care of by then. Toné & I slept the whole way to Flagstaff since we saw that scenery the day before on our way up to the Grand Canyon. We got to Flagstaff in time enough to check into the hotel first so we dumped off our luggage. It was warmer than usual in Flagstaff - the whole state of Arizona is having a heat wave. Our load in at The Orpheum Theatre as was at 2:00PM. I started to feel the effects of the altitude while we were setting up the equipment. Flagstaff is at 7000 feet which is 2000 feet higher than Denver. It normally takes a couple of weeks to adjust to that high altitude and we had to do it in one day. Right before sound check Divinity asked me to go with her to a body piercing place to get her tragus pierced. (The tragus is the flap of cartilage in the front and middle part of your ear.) Since I have mine pierced, she felt more comfortable having me there so I went with her. Divinity and Toné both wound up get their tragus pierced (both for free!). I was going to get a Mighty Mouse tattoo on the inside of my left forearm, but I couldn't find the picture of Mighty Mouse flying that I wanted. We had a very short sound check. Afterwards Toné and I went to do a little shopping and to get something to eat. We got a really cool gong made by the Woodstock company that makes chimes, a "singing bowl", and a new "Om" blanket. We're always buying things with the "Om" symbol on it. The concert went great. During the
show Victor asked me if I wanted to take a solo and I told him that I
didn't want to take one. Being the "slickster" that he is, he introduced
me for one anyway! After the show we went back to the hotel and Toné and
I stayed up late checking on email. That's all for now! anthony
