January 26, 2003 - Grand Canyon, Arizona

This morning I earned bonus points with my wife. I chose to go with her to the Grand Canyon instead of watching the Super Bowl…that should cover me for the next couple of months! Actually, we decided that there was NO WAY that we were going to be this close to the Grand Canyon and not go. So we decided to rent a car and drive the 3 hours to see one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the world. Special thanks to Kevin Holmes from 104.3 and 99.3 Arizona's jamming R&B station, for providing us with transportation to the car rental place this morning.

The trip was a very cool trip. It was 3 hours of cactus & tumbleweeds. The Grand Canyon was mind blowing, but that goes without saying. We almost fell off a couple of 7000 foot ledges taking pictures. We actually saw a book in the book store there that was all about how many people have actually fallen off ledges there. We also saw on our map of Arizona that we were not too far from the mile wide crater that was made by a meteor. It was only 60 miles out of our way, so we decided to take a trip there. When we got 5 miles from the crater, we saw a sign that said that the Meteor Crater National Park closed at 5:00PM…and we looked at the clock in the car and it was 4:55PM. God definitely has a sense of humor! So we drove back to Tempe.

When we got back to the hotel there were about 9 minutes left to the football game. But being the perfect husband I refused to turn the game on (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!).

(Uh huh - We all know what REALLY happened…)

Well I gotta' go - I have to pack. There's a 9:30AM bus call - black smoke. Black smoke refers to the exhaust from the diesel engine and means that the bus is pulling off at 9:30 sharp…NOT waiting for anybody!

peace,

anthony

(O.K. - I'm finally giving in. He wants me to put a picture of us on the web site and up until now, I have successfully avoided posting any pictures of me. But I thought I'd share a couple of pictures from today with y'all. He sure is adorable, don't you think? Anyway, I absolutely LOVE heights and anything related to it. Ant, on the other hand…well, lets just say he was REAL brave today. Or maybe he was calculating how much he'd get in life insurance money while luring me closer to the edge…???!!!)
