January 20, 2003 - Eugene, Oregon

We had a 10 AM bus call in Portland and a 3 hour ride from Portland to Eugene. It was very scenic, so I sat in the front of the bus to get a good view & enjoy the ride. At one point I could see Mount Saint Helens on the left. Joseph Wooten said how ironic it was that we left the supposedly "rainy northwest" - where it was dry and warm, to go to California - which shoulda' been dry and warm - but instead it was rainy and dreary!

When we got to Eugene we went straight to the McDonald Theatre which is where we were playing that night. The setup went very fast and the people at the venue were very helpful. Sound check went smooth also. After sound check me & Divinity walked down through the shopping district and we found a really good seafood market and had a great dinner. We stopped at a bookstore also. The one thing I make sure I do in every city that I travel to, is to find the bookstores…particularly, the Metaphysical bookstores. I get lost in them!

The show was an early one - starting at 8PM . The staff was very knowledgeable & helpful so production was excellent. Thanks y'all for a great job! Jonathan & Brenda from camp came down to this show also as my guests. Victor did a floating table illusion that I had never seen before and it was incredible!

This the first night where we don't have an overnight stay so we're on the bus settling in for an 8 hour trip to Sacramento through the mountains. Most of us stayed up for a while talking and listening to music, just laughing and joking around. Makes the long rides fun… Goodnight y'all ---

peace,

anthony
